In this area, the love of wine and wine-growing goes back as far as Roman times: in the first century A.D., Pliny described this fertile centurial area as an immense vineyard and spoke of the ships that sailed from the Upper Adriatic ports to Rome, filled with wine amphorae. Centuries later, the Republic of Venice imported the 'noble drink', which was traded throughout its domain.
It is precisely in the Lison area that artefacts have recently been found that bear witness to the area's oenological past.
