Barolo is the ace in the hole of the Oddero winery, now run with passion by the owner Giacomo's daughters, Mariacristina and Mariavittoria, together with their sons who add a note of creativity, freshness and innovation. We are located in the province of Cuneo, in La Morra. The territory is that of the Piedmont region, in the Langhe, in the historic homonymous town of Barbaresco. We are faced with a still red produced with a blend composed of 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The vineyard is characterized by red grapes and is native to Piedmont. The name could derive from two aspects, first, the almost clouded visual effect of the berry with abundant bloom; The second is linked to the rather late ripening of the fruit, in late autumn and in the presence of seasonal fogs, typical of Northern Italy. The grape variety is mentioned in the statutes of the locality of La Morra. The grapes are harvested in the central months of October, manually in wicker baskets. After the harvest, the malolactic fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks for approximately 20 days, at a controlled temperature between 28 and 29 °C. The aging process proceeds by dividing the different musts from as many vineyards, in Slavonian oak barrels for 30 months. The Barolo is then blended in the spring, bottled in the summer and subsequently aged in the bottle for 6 months before being released to the market.

The history of today’s winery is inextricably tied to that of Giacomo Oddero, born in 1926 and grandson of the first Giacomo in the family (whom he was named after). Under Giacomo’s guidance, Poderi e Cantine Oddero took on its current productive configuration, extending vineyard property, increasing bottle production, and upholding a high quality that today is recognized worldwide.
The legacy of Giacomo Oddero is carried on today by his daughter Mariacristina, who entered the family business near the end of the 1990s, and grandchildren Isabella and Pietro, who represent the seventh generation of a family with over a century and a half of vinicultural tradition behind them. 閱讀更多
