Still red from Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, produced by Chateau Trottevieille, 2017 vintage. A wine that embodies Bordeaux tradition, with a history dating back to 1453. A blend of 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Layers of red clay over a limestone base. Fermentation: 15-20 days. Aged 12-18 months in oak barrels. Licorice, spicy and toasted oak, generous levels of black cherry and currant fruit emerge from the glass. Light ruby. Dense, powerful yet well-balanced. Medium-bodied wine.

Situated below Château Troplong Mondot, the name of the estate is suggested to derive from la trotte vieille (English: old trotting lady), invoking a story of an elderly woman who once regularly trotted by nearby roads.
In 1949, Trottevieille was acquired by Marcel Borie, head of the firm Borie-Manoux, who left the estate to his son-in-law Emile Castéja.
To date the estate is owned by Borie-Manoux, also owners of Château Batailley and Château Lynch-Moussas, making it the only Saint-Émilion grand cru owned by a Bordeaux négociant. It is currently managed by Philippe Castéja, with oenologists Gilles Pauquet and Denis Dubourdieu as consultants. 閱讀更多
