Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Poggiarso, 14% ABV, produced by Castello di Meleto. 0.75 L bottle, 2019 vintage. A Chianti Classico Gran Selezione born from the passion and history of Castello di Meleto, a winery that has been producing excellent wines in Tuscany since 1968. This wine is made from Sangiovese grapes grown at 560 meters above sea level, aged for 27 months in French oak barrels. Enticing aromas of small red fruits, berries, and blackcurrants pave the way for a full-bodied palate, with a lively freshness and a long, flavorful finish.

The acquisition of Castello di Meleto is one of the most interesting case histories in the Italian wine scene. We are in 1968 when Comm. Gianni Mazzocchi, president of Editoriale Domus (Quattrosoldi and Quattroruote), set up a joint stock company after having launched a public subscription in a magazine to acquire a property in Maremma.

The thing is so successful that part of the historic Ricasoli estate, including Meleto, is also purchased. An important work of agrarian transformation and restructuring of the farmhouses followed, until the present physiognomy was reached.

Today the Viticola Toscana (this is the name of the company), is taken as an example of organizational efficiency, a company that has been able to positively change the destiny of this Chianti land border, placed at the limits of what were the Republics of Siena and of Florence. 閱讀更多
