Dolcetto, our earliest released wine, is a wine that is considered very typical wine of Le Langhe. This young, dry red, with its intense and brilliant color, is enjoyed generally within two years of its production and is appreciated above all for its freshness and vitality. In autumn, here at Cascina Fontana we always enjoy our Dolcetto just weeks after the harvest with the traditional meal of bagna cauda (a sauce of garlic, anchovies and extra-virgin olive oil in which to dip fresh vegetables). At this time of the year, after all the hard work throughout the vineyard year and the winemaking processes, this new wine has only just finished its fermentation: it is drawn direct from the vat into a jug, vivacious and with massive fruit, vivid and foaming, a special experience to mark an always special moment, the completion of our year’s labours.

We are a small family wine estate located in the Barolo hills of Le Langhe, south of Alba, in Piedmont, Northwest Italy.

This is an area of rare majestic beauty, with vine-covered hills and castle-topped communities looking across to each other over steep, plunging valleys.

Here, in our beautiful land dedicated to the production of wine, my family have grown grapes and produced wines for at least six generations.

Today I continue to grow the traditional grapes of Le Langhe, dolcetto, barbera and nebbiolo, to produce a range of classic and prestigious wines that are the purest expression of the land from which they are born, Le Langhe. 閱讀更多

They are literally the fruit of responsible and meticulous care in the vineyard as well as the most careful vinification that fully respects our traditions. There may be some sediment in the bottle, a process of natural evolution, but this in no ways alters the quality of the wine. We see it as a mark of its natural goodness.
