描述

Spumante Fior d'Arancio originates in the Euganean Hills and takes its name from the citrus notes typical of the Moscato Giallo grown in these areas. Intense and persistent, this aromatic white sparkling wine is made 100% from Moscato Giallo, a grape variety with good resistance and early ripening, which prefers medium-textured soil with trachytic outcrops. It takes its name from the term "Muscum" precisely because its intense aroma recalls that of moss. A single-varietal blend, therefore, that has nothing to envy of other grape varieties or combinations thereof. The grapes are selected by hand, harvested and cooled to 0.5°C, and then softly pressed; the free-run must thus obtained is sent for second fermentation in steel autoclaves. The vinification is carried out according to the Martinotti method, with the must fermented at 10°C until it reaches the desired pressure and then left to rest for a couple of weeks at -2°C. Before being released for sale, it ages for at least 36 months in the bottle, and it is precisely thanks to the almost obsessive respect for such long periods that the Spumante Colli Euganei Fior d'Arancio DOCG has become one of the most interesting products of the Capodilista family's La Montecchia company, gradually acquiring ever-increasing importance in the Italian wine scene.

The principle activity Agricola Conte Umberto Emo Capodilista "La Montecchia" is viticulture, already begun in the Middle Ages. Petrarch himself appreciated the local vintage, much to his home at Arquà at the southern part of the Hills euganei. The current owner, Count Umberto Emo Capodilista, began to renovate the vineyards and wineries in the early 90s, making his son Giordano Emo to direct the whole company assisted Andrea Boaretti oenologist and agronomist Patrizio Gasparinetti.

The numerous awards and recognition from the most notable wine critics like Robert Parker, Luca Maroni, Gambero Rosso and Veronelli have encouraged Giordano Emo to continue along this path. About half of the production is exported abroad.
