Chateau Pape Clement Clementin de Pape Clement Pessac Léognan is the flagship of the Bernard Magrez winery. Classified as an AOC (French designation of controlled origin), it is a still red that comes from one of the oldest Grand Crus in Bordeaux. History has it that it was planted in the thirteenth century by Bertrand de Goth, a cadet of a noble French family in the area. The terroir that hosts it is that of Pessac-Léognan, a small town located a few kilometers from Bordeaux. Here the soil is clayey, calcareous, and with a good presence of gravel. The climate is mild thanks to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, and the surrounding forests protect it from the otherwise harsh climate. A little curiosity: the vineyard soil is plowed according to age-old methods using oxen or horses.

Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest Grands Crus of Bordeaux. His vineyard - the first harvests took place in 1252 - was implemented in the XIIth century by Bertrand de Goth, younger of a noble family from Bordeaux region. Archbishop of Bordeaux, Bertrand de Got became Pope in 1305 under the name of Clement V. This is where the Château inherited its name from and its wine became an icon. 閱讀更多
