Before 1876, La Tour de By was called La Roque de By. Vines have been cultivated here for several centuries. Pierre Tizon, Lord of the Fief de By was the owner in 1599.

The Château remained in the family until 1725, when it passed to the Comte de Gramont, then to Monsieur de Lignac and, in 1860, to Monsieur Alfred Rubichon, who built the present Château La Tour de By in 1876, overlooking the Gironde. It was then bought by Mr Julien Damoy who died there in 1942.

In December 1965, Messrs Pagès, Lapalu and Cailloux bought it. This is how a small group of repatriates from Tunisia looking for a high potential terroir discovered La Tour de By and bought it. Accompanied by Messrs Lapalu and Cailloux, Marc Pagès set about rehabilitating this vineyard in the north of the Médoc.

From 2005, the transmission is established. Marc Pagès called to his side the eldest of his grandsons, Frédéric Le Clerc, a polytechnician by training and a water and forestry engineer. On 4 July 2007, Marc Pagès passed away... Much too soon.

In 2009, the last of his grandsons, Benjamin Richer de Forges, joined his cousin Frédéric. The fifth generation to make wine since Tunisia and the third generation to head Château La Tour de By, both of them have since been committed to perpetuating the tradition of quality and typicality of the wines of the Nord-Médoc region that prevailed with their grandfather. As a tribute to their grandfather, they decided to update the famous Prestige cuvée made by himself and his friend Emile Peynaud from the exceptional 1982 vintage. They renamed it "Héritage Marc Pagès".
