描述
Still red wine from Umbria, 15% ABV, produced by Tenuta Bellafonte. 100% Sagrantino, 2017 vintage. A Montefalco Sagrantino that reveals the complexity and elegance of a native Umbrian grape, with a history rooted in the Middle Ages. The vines are carefully tended and fertilized with manure from select stables. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using indigenous yeasts. Aged for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and 10 months in bottle. It reveals refined aromas of iris and lavender, blueberry and raspberry jam, sweet spices, and aromatic herbs. Intense and intriguing ruby red. Excellent balance on the palate: despite the impressive tannic structure, the palate is rewarded with fruit and delicate toasted notes.

The vineyards, are located at a height varying between 260 and 320 meters above sea level. They grow on sunny lands, tough and rocky. The typical clay of the area alternates with marly and arenaceous formations. Approximately 10 hectares (24 acres) of vines in all, with old rows and recent installations, give an idea of the project’s size, heedless of small numbers and wholeheartedly striving for the highest possible quality with special attention to natural processes.
The rest of the property, which covers 30 hectares (74 acres), includes woods, a small orchard, and 2500 olive trees of the classic local varieties: ‘frantoio’, ‘leccino’ and especially ‘moraiolo’, able to produce an excellent extra virgin olive oil.
The Estate has been conceived in order to have a complete energy balance and a very low environmental impact, with photovoltaic panels and a biomass heater which also utilises the crop residues. 阅读更多

| 故事 | Sagrantino: The origins of the vine are still debated, but it seems to have originated in Greece and imported to Italy by Byzantine monks: there is evidence of its cultivation since the Middle Ages in the territories surrounding the municipality of Montefalco. In the past, the wine was mainly used during religious services, hence the name. Today, with just over 600 hectares in production, it is the best known and most appreciated Umbrian wine for its great intensity, concentration and capacity for ageing thanks to its high polyphenolic content. |
