The vineyard regains unity by blending in traditional large oak barrels and completing its ageing in bottles before marketing. Recognized since time immemorial as an area with a high viticultural vocation, Serragrilli produces a Barbaresco of great pleasantness: firm and full-bodied on the palate but, at the same time, harmonious and balanced, with sweet tannins, never too prominent, which ensure it excellent longevity. Barbaresco Serragrilli reaches maturity after 4 years from the harvest and the ageing period is between 4 and 20 years.

Serragrilli is a gentle hill in the town of Neive exposed to the south-west, where the Nebbiolo grapes receive the sun's rays until late in the evening. The soil has a uniform structure and composition. The soil is compact and the correlation between macro- and microelements is homogeneous, clay and limestone are covered by an adequate mantle of quartzose sands and fine silt. The vineyard extends up to the ridge in the upper part of the hill.

The Marchesi di Barolo winery was founded in 1806 in the heart of the Langhe, following the marriage between Carlo Tancredi Falletti and the French aristocrat Juliette Colbert di Maulévrier, who understood the importance of nebbiolo grapes, the production of which gave rise to intense, decisive wines that would improve with time. Xtrawine devotes special attention to Marchesi di Barolo wines, proposing bottles that have received important awards from Bibenda and belonging to the best vintages of 2012, 2013 and 2016. At the end of the 19th century, the Marchesi di Barolo winery was acquired by Pietro Abbona, and is now run by his nephew Ernesto Abbona, who can count on a vineyard estate of 65 hectares from which come high-quality wines that add to the winery's fame. Thanks to the climatic conditions and the fertility of the land, aromatic, pure and simple grapes are cultivated, which are processed in the cellar to the best of their ability thanks to proven experience in the field. 阅读更多

酿酒工艺 The freshly harvested grapes arrive at the winery intact. They are quickly crushed and gently destemmed to extract only the noblest and most aromatic fractions from the skin and outermost area of the berry. Fermentation, at a controlled temperature, takes place in thermo-conditioned tanks. Maceration on the skins lasts about 8 days, with frequent pumping-over to allow the must to appropriate all the trace elements present in the skins and gently extract the colour. Racking is done only when all the sugar has been transformed into alcohol. Racked into specially made vitrified concrete vats with cork insulation, the wine maintains a post-fermentation temperature of about 22°C for a long time. In this way, malolactic fermentation starts spontaneously, generally ending as early as December.
