Cataldi Madonna
The wine business started in 1920 with Baron Luigi Cataldi Madonna, four generations ago. But it was his son Antonio who bottled for the first time in 1975. In 1990, his grandson Luigi took over, continuing the family project of characterising the products and enhancing the territory. Until the early 1990s, the Cataldi Madonna winery practically presided over the entire Ofena wine-growing area on its own.
Today, the company consists of 30 hectares (planted exclusively with native and traditional vines such as Montepulciano, Pecorino and Trebbiano), all located in the municipality of Ofena between 320 and 440 metres above sea level. In the vineyard, the aim is to protect the varietal expressiveness of the grapes, especially through the management of the foliage. In the cellar, the aim is to preserve in the wine the grit, flavour and freshness present in our grapes.
