Descripción

Originally from France, this grape variety was brought to Alto Adige about 100 years ago but only much more recently to the Valle Isarco. The porphyry-rich, warm, frost-protected soils of the lower Valle Isarco with their SE exposure confer to this wine the characteristics that have made it one of the noblest among white wines.

La primera sede se estableció en la histórica bodega de Reinthalerhof y Anton Gfader, su propietario, fue nombrado primer director por los 24 miembros fundadores. Tras un incendio en la antigua Reinthalerhof en el invierno de 1962, la dirección de la bodega decidió comprar las ruinas y construyó unas instalaciones nuevas, modernas y funcionales. En 1975, una fuerte nevada provocó el derrumbe del cobertizo, por lo que en 1978 la Cantina Produttori Valle Isarco se trasladó a sus instalaciones actuales, a las que se puede acceder fácilmente tanto desde la salida de la autopista de Chiusa como desde la carretera estatal del Brennero. En 2005, se construyó una nueva planta de producción en el emplazamiento de Chiusa, mientras que el antiguo edificio se sometió a una renovación general. En la actualidad, la Cantina Valle Isarco cuenta con unos 130 socios procedentes de 11 municipios: Varna, Bressanone, Funes/Tiso, Velturno, Chiusa, Laion, Castelrotto, Villandro, Barbiano, Fié y Renon.
