Areas of cultivation The grape is grown primarily in the Languedoc region, with some planting in the northern coast of California.
History Marselan is a French black grape variety, a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. It was first cultivated in 1961 by Paul Truel near the French town of Marseillan, hence the name.
Ampelographic features Marselan tends to produce large clusters of small berries that ripen medium to late. It has great resistance to Botrytis cinerea fungus and powdery mildew as well as non-flowering and mites.
