History	Zweigelt is a red wine grape variety developed in 1922, at the Federal Institute for Viticulture and Pomology at Klosterneuburg, Austria, by Fritz Zweigelt. It was a crossing of St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch. It 's the most widely planted red grape variety in Austria.
Ampelographic features	Leaf: medium, trilobata. Bunch: medium, conical. Acino: medium-large size, ovoid shape, with consistent skin and blue-black color.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety	The wine obtained from the zweigelt vine is ruby red, intense. On the palate it is sapid, fruity, tannic.
Notes	Resistance to biotic and abiotic adversities: not sensitive to ozone and mildew; Little to moderately sensitive to botrytis. Variety characterized by a high resistance to winter frosts.
