Daniele Ricci

Cascina San Leto is nestled in an amphitheatre of vineyards, just a few turns from the centre of Costa Vescovato. The property in the Tortonese Hills was purchased in 1929 by the grandparents of winemaker Daniele Ricci, who immediately planted between six and seven hectares of vineyards. In a context, territory and market that had changed profoundly, he (born in 1963, third generation) had decided to uproot them: until about twenty years ago, in fact, his main job was something else.

Today, the estate's vineyard area covers approximately 15 hectares, out of a total of 25 hectares of land. Most of it (12 hectares) is concentrated in a single block around Cascina San Leo, where small quantities of ancient grains are also grown, and there is an orchard, a vegetable garden and a farmhouse. The rest (3 hectares) is in Carezzano, where in 2022 Daniele started a new project together with his son Mattia, who was born in 1996 and represents the fourth generation.
