Description

In the local dialect Burdese means Bordeaux and refers to the classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It is a red wine of great density, structure and balance, produced in limited quantities from selected vineyards. This Burdese is a great wine for ageing that offers various aromas and flavours from the Sicilian sun.

To say Planeta is to say the best Sicilian wine reality. Closely linked to the place where it is located, the Cantina Planeta offers a series of labels of great territorial adherence, truly unique: La Baronia in Capo Milazzo, Dispensa in Menfi, Buonivini at Noto, Feudo di Mezzo on the Mount Etna in Castiglione di Sicilia and Ulmo in Sambuca di Sicilia. These are the places where the Cantine Planeta wineries are located, whose history has been handed down since the XVI century, by no less than 17 generations. Climate Altitude: between 75 and 430 m. a.s.l. for vineyards in Dispensa e Maroccoli.
Soil composition Shallow soil, few stones, average limestone; moderate fine texture, with a good fraction of yellow clay. MAROCCOLI: dark deep soil, very few stones, rich of organic materials.

Wine making The grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by lying on the skins for 21 days. After racking, the wine ages for 14 months in new Allier oak barrels. The malolactic fermentation is carried about in wood and stainless steel vats.
