Description
The Riesling Trentino DOC from the La Vis winery is a still white wine produced in the small town of Lavis, in the lower Cembra Valley, on the banks of the rushing Avisio stream. We are in Trentino Alto-Adige, in an area where the landscape is at times rugged and difficult to cultivate. The history of Riesling Trentino DOC is based on a fundamental principle, which has become the motto of the original winery: the right grape variety in the right place. The correct interpretation of the soil's morphology has allowed the production of a structured wine with a strong character. The region's climate seems specifically designed to favor the development and aroma of Riesling grapes, the varietal used alone to produce this wine. The marked temperature variations between day and night, the abundant rainfall, and the mild influence of Lake Garda create a series of unique and unrepeatable microclimates. The porphyritic soil is deep, well-drained, and rich in clay. The vineyards overlook the southern slopes of the valley. The vines, trained using the Guyot and Trentino simple pergola systems, reach perfect ripeness in late September. After harvesting, the grapes arrive in the cellar where the winemaking process begins. The first step is soft pressing, conducted in an inert atmosphere, a process necessary to protect the must from potential, and especially harmful, oxidative stress. Static decantation, necessary to clarify the product, occurs at low temperatures and causes the lees to settle. At this point the Riesling Trentino DOC is ready for fermentation and subsequent refinement on the lees for approximately 6 months.

The logo takes inspiration from a decorative element that has always been present in the company and bears a highly symbolic value: a wooden bas-relief celebrating the founding of the winery in 1948 which represents the coats of arms of the municipalities of Lavis, Giovo and Meano, the very first protagonists in the association’s establishment. A timeless brand of great strength that puts the Winery and its founding values at the centre: cooperation, history and the bond with the territory.
The Lavis wine-makers cooperative traces its origins to 1850, when the Cembran family built the initial core of the current production unit. It was officially formed in 1948 by 14 independent wine-makers and grew in the years that followed, due partly to acquisitions of other producers, including mergers with the Salorno Cooperative of South Tyrol in 1969 and Cantina Sociale di Cembra in 2003.
