Description
What kind of wine it is
Bruciato from Tenuta Guado al Tasso is a red wine that expresses the character of the Bolgheri terroir in Tuscany. It is crafted from a careful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. This red wine displays an intense aromatic profile, dominated by ripe small red fruits intertwined with notes of sweet spices, hints of tobacco and subtle menthol nuances. On the palate, it offers a harmonious and dynamic drink, supported by silky tannins that give the sip a balanced structure and a pleasantly persistent finish.
Where it comes from
The vineyards of Tenuta Guado al Tasso stretch along the coast of the Upper Tuscan Maremma, in the picturesque natural amphitheatre of Bolgheri. This area is characterised by a mild coastal climate, where constant sea breezes temper the summer heat, ensuring clear skies and excellent sun exposure. The vine roots delve into fertile soil, composed of alluvial-origin soils with a pronounced clay-sandy matrix. This geological combination allows the grapes to develop great phenolic concentration and a distinct aromatic precision.
How it is produced
After careful selection, the bunches are destemmed and subjected to a gentle pressing. Maceration takes place for about fifteen days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures; for Merlot and Syrah, slightly lower temperatures are used to best preserve their aromatic freshness. Malolactic fermentation occurs partly in steel and partly in wood. At the end of this phase, the wines are blended into the final blend to begin a period of ageing in barrels for seven months. The process is completed with a further resting period, necessary to harmonise the different components before release to the market.

The noble Della Gherardesca family began practicing viticulture in the late 1600’s on their land in Bolgheri, but things really began to change under the guidance of Guido Alberto Della Gherardesca (1780-1854). He was a passionate about viticulture. He was appointed majordomo of Grand Duke Leopold II and then dedicated himself to enology in his family’s land in Maremma. In the 1930’s, the property was inherited by Carlotta Della Gherardesca Antinori (Piero Antinori’s mother) and her sister who was married to Mario Incisa Della Rocchetta (who received the nearby Tenuta San Guido).
