Description

What kind of wine it is

Gaddo by Della Gherardesca is a still red wine with a pronounced Tuscan character. This blend harmonises Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon and Sangiovese. It appears a deep ruby red with violet highlights. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, spices, tobacco and cedar, enriched by earthy nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and fruity, balanced by a pleasant freshness and soft tannins. The finish is long and persistent, characterised by a subtle mineral vein. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats, game, mushroom risottos and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Tuscany, in the renowned Bolgheri area. The vineyards stretch towards Castagneto, where the unique soil characteristics impart the typical mineral imprint to the taste. The Della Gherardesca family manages the estates following the principles of rational viticulture. The name Gaddo pays tribute to a historic figure from medieval Florence, celebrating the regional heritage through a faithful expression of its homeland, interpreted with a contemporary and elegant style.

How it is produced

Production is aimed at preserving the freshness and aromatic integrity of the grapes. After vinification, the wine undergoes a measured maturation in wooden barrels to consolidate its structure. This stage smooths the flavour profile and imparts a delicate hint of vanilla, maintaining impeccable balance with the fruity notes. To fully appreciate its harmony, it is recommended to decant for an hour and serve at a temperature of 16-18 °C. Its remarkable ageing potential confirms the excellent evolutionary prospects of this red.

From this winery
The della Gherardesca family, with ancient and deep roots in Tuscan history, has played a fundamental role in the Maremma and the entire region, helping to shape its cultural and territorial heritage.

A vivid example of this bond is the Castle of Castagneto Carducci, a symbol of Tuscan values and beauty, an area where the family began practising rational viticulture as early as the 1600s, investing in the creation of vineyards between Bolgheri and Castagneto.

This bond now takes concrete form in the birth of a collection bearing the ‘della Gherardesca’ signature, the result of a meeting between Gaddo della Gherardesca and Prosit Group, with the aim of narrating Tuscany through different perspectives and territories, through a contemporary and original approach in the style of the wines and in the identity of the brand.

There are four wines in the collection: the ‘Gaddo’, Bolgheri Rosso with an elegant and convivial character. A rosé with a strong personality, called "Sibilla". The Vermentino "Le Vedute" in all its modernity. The Brunello di Montalcino, a great Tuscan classic, could not be missing.
