Description

What kind of wine it is

Bell’Aja Bolgheri Bianco by San Felice is a still white wine that captures the essence of the Tuscan coast. Made from Vermentino grapes, it stands out for its elegantly balanced structure. On the nose, it offers clear notes of white fruit, enhanced by hints of jasmine flowers and delicate touches of thyme. On the palate, it is fresh and harmonious, characterised by a Mediterranean character and a mineral streak that prolongs its persistence, combining aromatic liveliness with great palate clarity.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Bolgheri, Tuscany, a region with a Mediterranean climate that ensures regular ripening and a pronounced aromatic expression. The San Felice vineyards are located at four hundred metres above sea level, an ideal altitude to give freshness to the Vermentino grapes. The vines grow on silty-sandy soil, a composition that enhances the precision of the aromas and provides an easy-drinking quality. The combination of microclimate and soil defines a distinctive local style of great finesse.

How it is produced

The production process involves a staggered and selective harvest, carried out between the end of August and the beginning of September. This fractional harvesting technique is designed to preserve the natural acidity and, at the same time, give the wine greater structure and expressive complexity. Careful selection of the perfect moment for picking keeps the grape’s vibrant tension intact, resulting in a clear expression of the variety. The result is a white wine of immediate appeal, reflecting the identity of Bolgheri through precise oenological management.

Sustainability shapes our philosophy and we have a deep respect for our historic estate. San Felice covers 150 hectares, at an altitude of around 400 metres above sea level, with a perfect combination of soil and micro-climate. In these ideal conditions, we are producing highly acclaimed wines and oils.

Our winemaker, Leonardo Bellaccini, has pioneered many unique practices. Importantly he sees distinctive characteristics in each of San Felice’s undulating slopes and he treats each vine within the vineyard individually. Having identified five macro-areas Leonardo and his team has planted the grape varieties which thrive in the specific geography and soil.
