Sieur d'Arques

Since 1946 the Sieur d'Arques winery, located in Limoux (25km from Carcassonne) and develops sparkling wines both method classic what an ancestral method - The members of the winery have at their disposal 1804 hectares. The winery organizes an annual auction of its wines by devolving the proceeds from the restoration of a village in the AOC area.

The history of the Languedoc vineyards dates back to the 5th century BC. - But it was in 1531 that the Benedictine monks of St. Hilaire Abbey, near Limoux, produced the world's first sparkling wine. The lord of the region, the Sieur d'Arques, celebrated his victories with a chalice of Blanquette, so, strengthened by these historical notes, the founders named their winery Sieur d'Arques.
