Description
What kind of wine it is
Atrum Rosso Valpanera is a still wine with a full and enveloping profile. This structured blend harmoniously combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a true expression of the Tre Venezie. In the glass, it displays bright violet reflections, while on the nose it offers clear raspberry notes and light spices. The palate is smooth, supported by balanced savouriness and well-integrated tannins. The sip finishes with a persistent finish, enhanced by elegant toasted, smoky and coffee nuances.
Where it comes from
Atrum Rosso originates from the estates of Scodovacca and Villa Vicentina, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The vineyards are rooted in clay soils, a matrix that gives the wine a solid structure and remarkable fullness of flavour. The Tre Venezie territory is expressed through a sip of marked intensity and gentle texture. At the table, it pairs best with red meats, pork and mature cheeses, ideal companions to enhance its profound expressive richness.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place in the second half of September, with the grapes being selected with great care. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks is essential to preserve the fruit's complete aromatic purity. The wine is then subjected to a meticulous repass over the skins of dried Refosco, a key step that amplifies its volume and enriches the profile with intense toasted and coffee notes. To fully appreciate its complexity, it is recommended to decant for one hour before serving at a temperature between fourteen and sixteen degrees.
History and Curiosities
Produced on the estates of Scodovacca and Villa Vicentina, Atrum Rosso 2023 fully embodies Valpanera's vision. This elegant Trevenezie IGT is made from grapes harvested in September on clay-based soils. Its true uniqueness lies in the winemaking process: fermentation in stainless steel is followed by a careful ripasso over the skins of dried Refosco grapes. This refined technique gives the wine extraordinary smoothness and a well-structured body. Awarded 94 points by Luca Maroni, it also boasts remarkable ageing potential.

Friuli is renowned for its esteemed white wines, attributed to several key factors: The region’s UNIQUE MICROCLIMATE, influenced by the Alps, provides warm days and cool nights, crucial for preserving grape acidity and freshness. This balance allows complex flavors to develop, resulting in vibrant, nuanced wines. The MINERAL RICH MARL AND SANDSTONE MICRO SOIL add distinct mineral notes. Friuli winemakers, with generations of expertise, blend traditional techniques with
modern innovations to elevate their wines. Friuli wines are celebrated for their AROMATIC PROFILES featuring citrus, stone fruits, and floral undertones, pairing beautifully with various dishes and loved by wine enthusiasts worldwide.
Between the sea and the Alpine snow‑capped mountains lies a narrow cultivable strip of land, shaped by alternating layers of clay, lime, and sandstone. This region offers a rare harmony between the sweetness of marine clay and the mineral
toughness of the Isonzo gravels. A natural equilibrium that enhances the character of our grape varieties and gives life to wines of exceptional quality. And it is precisely here that our winery is located. Read more
