Description
Still red, 100% Merlese, from the Rubicone IGT in Emilia-Romagna, 14.5% ABV, produced by Umberto Cesari. Vintage 2021. A wine born from an ambitious project, a grape variety conceived after a study conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bologna, which combines the best characteristics of Sangiovese and Merlot in a new variety. The history of Umberto Cesari began in 1964, when the founder, among the first to believe in the potential of this terroir and regional varieties, purchased the first 20 hectares on the hills of Castel San Pietro Terme. Ample, with aromas of cherry and berries, mixed with spicy notes, brought by its Merlot ancestor. Full-bodied, yet capable of demonstrating elegance, thanks to a combination of acidity and softness. The tannic texture is firm, yet always pleasant.
