Description
What kind of wine it is
Torre Rosazza Sauvignon Friuli Grave is a still white wine with a straw yellow colour, a true expression of Sauvignon. The bouquet opens with aromas of linden, grapefruit and boxwood, enriched by hints of tomato leaf. On the palate, it is distinctly aromatic and flavourful, offering a refreshing dynamic and a long finish. The clear mineral finish makes it an excellent aperitif, ideal for enhancing herb-based first courses, fish dishes and fresh cheeses.
Where it comes from
It originates in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in the Friuli Grave area, near Oleis di Manzano. The vineyards are managed according to organic and sustainable principles and are situated between 160 and 170 metres above sea level. The Guyot training system ensures a balanced yield for each vine. The soil is characterised by Eocene marl, a vital geological factor that nourishes the vines deeply and imparts to the glass that distinct minerality which defines its taste profile.
How it is produced
The hand-picked grapes undergo a brief cryomaceration to preserve the primary varietal aromas. After gentle pressing, the musts undergo alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The subsequent ageing on the lees for about six months adds depth and complexity to the sip before the final rest in the cellar. This process yields a long-lived white, capable of evolving elegantly over time if stored away from light.
History and Curiosities
Torre Rosazza presents an elegant Sauvignon from Friuli Grave DOC that expresses the authentic essence of the Friulian territory. The grapes, sourced from prized Eocene marl and hand-picked, undergo a delicate cryomaceration followed by gentle pressing. The meticulous ageing on the lees for six months in temperature-controlled steel tanks defines its exquisitely aromatic character. On the palate, it offers a vibrant freshness, culminating in a persistent mineral note ideal for enhancing refined fish dishes.

In the Colli Orientali del Friuli, and especially in Torre Rosazza, the growing of grapevines has a very ancient history. Already known in Roman times, grapes were also grown in the Middle Ages, along with other crops such as olives and grains. In those years, wine was a commodity or a bargaining chip that demonstrated a family’s wealth.
Noble elegance. The history of Torre Rosazza has been tied to the Antonini family, part of the Udine nobility, since the 1600s. Already the lords of the agricultural estate, the Antonini restored the medieval tower and built the villa that became their home in the hills: Turris Rosacea.
After the Antonini, Torre Rosazza passed to the De Marchi family. But more than any other event, the biggest mark on its history was left by the two World Wars. After the Battle of Caporetto, the estate came under Austrian control before returning to Italy at the end of the war. During the World War II it was the scene of fighting between the German occupation army and the Italian Resistance. Read more
