Description
What kind of wine it is
Torre Rosazza Friulano is a still white wine produced in the Colli Orientali del Friuli area. Made from Friulano grapes, it displays a lively, crystalline yellow colour. On the palate, it offers a fresh and compact profile, with a good structure and a pleasant smoothness. The sip reveals a mineral note leading to a savoury finish, making it ideal for elegantly accompanying vegetarian dishes, risottos and cured meats.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Oleis di Manzano, in the heart of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The vineyards are cultivated using the Guyot system at altitudes between seventy and one hundred and thirty metres, on soils composed of Eocene marl. This favourable hillside combination encourages a clear expression and a well-defined territorial identity. The bouquet opens with precise and enveloping aromas, recalling hints of wildflowers, sweet notes of jasmine and delicate nuances of ripe pear.
How it is produced
After destemming, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and delicate cryo-maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, preserving the integrity of the fruit and the purity of the aromas. The production process concludes with ageing on the lees for about four months, followed by at least two months' rest in the bottle, which gives the wine its final harmony, ensuring a vibrant sip and an extremely precise finish.
History and Curiosities
Born in Oleis di Manzano, Torre Rosazza's pure Friulano expresses the authentic elegance of the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC. Since 1972, the winery has enhanced an exceptional terroir through meticulous vinification, completed by a four-month ageing on the lees. This technique imparts the wine with clear aromas of jasmine and pear, offering a compact and vibrant palate. Awarded 89 points by James Suckling, the 2023 vintage captivates with its persistent mineral savouriness, making it ideal for pairing with shellfish and flavourful risottos.

In the Colli Orientali del Friuli, and especially in Torre Rosazza, the growing of grapevines has a very ancient history. Already known in Roman times, grapes were also grown in the Middle Ages, along with other crops such as olives and grains. In those years, wine was a commodity or a bargaining chip that demonstrated a family’s wealth.
Noble elegance. The history of Torre Rosazza has been tied to the Antonini family, part of the Udine nobility, since the 1600s. Already the lords of the agricultural estate, the Antonini restored the medieval tower and built the villa that became their home in the hills: Turris Rosacea.
After the Antonini, Torre Rosazza passed to the De Marchi family. But more than any other event, the biggest mark on its history was left by the two World Wars. After the Battle of Caporetto, the estate came under Austrian control before returning to Italy at the end of the war. During the World War II it was the scene of fighting between the German occupation army and the Italian Resistance. Read more
