Description

What kind of wine it is

Molino a Vento Rosé by Tenute Orestiadi is an elegant still rosé wine produced in Sicily from Nerello Mascalese grapes. Made in the Terre Siciliane denomination area, it stands out for its bright onion skin pink colour. On the nose, it offers clear aromas of fresh red fruit, anticipating a dry flavour profile, characterised by a lively acidity and an extremely smooth drinkability. The finish is pleasantly clean, outlining a sip that combines technical precision with great overall harmony.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from western Sicily, from vineyards located between 350 and 500 metres above sea level. The roots sink into the Terra Nera, a compact silty-clay soil resistant to drought, essential for giving Nerello Mascalese its typical linear expression. The aromatic bouquet is fragrant, marked by notes of wild strawberries, redcurrants and delicate hints of rose petal, finishing with a distinct mineral nuance of wet stone. Awarded a score of 94/100 by Luca Maroni, this rosé boasts a solid structure that ensures a potential evolution of three to five years.

How it is produced

The processing of Nerello Mascalese aims to preserve maximum freshness and clarity of aromas. The wine matures for three months in stainless steel, a technical choice that keeps the fragrance of red fruit intact and supports a dry, vibrant flavour profile. This is followed by a further two months of rest, essential for stabilising the aromatic profile and making the tasting experience perfectly harmonious. On the palate, the pronounced acidity gives character to the sip. Ideally served at a temperature of 10-12 °C, it proves excellent for accompanying delicate seafood dishes such as sushi and grilled tuna, or flavourful dishes including busiate alla trapanese, grilled mushrooms and mature cheeses.

Tenute Orestiadi has an ancient name that evokes distant myths and legends which, precisely in the lands of the Belìce Valley, found life thanks to Aeschylus, who two thousand five hundred years ago wrote and staged the myth of Orestes and the Orestiadi. This is where the story of the Tenute Orestiadi starts, founded in 2008 in the heart of the Belìce Valley, in Gibellina, Sicily, where Mediterranean scents and colors intertwine with myth and art. By transforming the arduous ascent after a historically and economically complex moment, the 1968 earthquake, into energy, the whole has become a cultural and dialogue center for the Mediterranean area.
