| Soil composition | The Biancavilla area is characterised by areas composed of small volcanoes and craters that became extinct in remote ages. These led to the formation of calcareous caves and terroirs composed mainly of clay particles, lapilli remains, sands and volcanic ash. Milo, a child of volcanic activity, is formed by several flows embraced over the centuries, by dark, sandy hills resulting from the collapse of part of Etna's slope, and by recent elements such as pumice, lapilli, and fine, draining ash. |
