Description
A Brut Classic Method rosé sparkling wine from South Africa, 12% ABV, produced by Simonsig. Blend: 83% Pinot Noir, 16% Pinotage, 1% Pinot Meunier, 2022 vintage. A Cap Classique celebrating the history of the Simonsig winery, a pioneer in Classic Method production in South Africa. The grapes are hand-picked and gently pressed. The bottles are then aged in the cool, dark cellars for at least 15 months, adding layers of yeast complexity to the delicious red berry flavors. The captivating aromas of raspberries and cranberries are enhanced by subtle floral notes. A delightful light salmon color. On the palate, strawberry sorbet and red berries are followed by a note of biscuity complexity.

These elements are intertwined in this family-owned farm, where the late Frans Malan produced the first bottle of our much-loved Kaapse Vonkel, South Africa's first Méthode Cap Classique made in the classic bottle-fermented style. He is also honoured for co-founding the thriving Stellenbosch Wine Route, a first in its time. Today, his legacy lives on through his sons, Francois and Johan, and grandchildren Francois-Jacques, Christelle and Michael, the 2nd and 3rd Malan generations at Simonsig Wine Estate. Read more
