Description
Vermentino Monteoro is a wine produced by the Sella & Mosca winery. It is one of the most important and historic wineries in Sardinia. Almost a century has passed since two Piedmontese viticulture enthusiasts, engineer Sella and lawyer Mosca, decided to reclaim the land on which the vines are now cultivated to produce Monteoro. Vermentino is a grape variety that has acclimatized well throughout Sardinia, but especially in the northeastern areas of the island, finding a truly ideal territory in Gallura. On the slopes of Mount Limbara, exploiting the granite-clad soils and combined with a typically Mediterranean climate, a grape grows from which to produce a white wine with an unmistakable bouquet. The harvest of the bunches takes place (only by hand) starting in the second half September, with grapes particularly rich in sugars and aromatic compounds. The vinification of the Vermentino Monteoro begins with an initial completely cold maceration of the pomace and subsequent soft pressing. In the second phase, the must undergoes a long fermentation at just 15 degrees Celsius in large stainless steel tanks. The subsequent maturation, lasting several months, also takes place in stainless steel containers before bottling. It is a wine recommended for those who love a white wine with a warm and full flavor, yet capable of offering a great balance between softness and freshness. The Monteoro confirms its quality by winning important national and international prizes and awards.
