Description
Type of wine
Alghero Parallelo 41 by Sella & Mosca is a still white wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin that fully expresses the sunny character of Sardinia. The result of a careful blend of Torbato and Sauvignon Blanc, fermented in oak and aged in both steel and barrels, it stands out for its intense and persistent aromatic profile, characterised by delicate floral notes and lively hints of exotic fruit. On the palate, it is enveloping and smooth, balanced by a pleasant freshness and well-measured acidity. Its solid and elegant structure makes it the ideal companion for lean fish dishes, shellfish, and selected cheeses.
Provenance
The grapes come from the renowned coastal area of Alghero, where constant sea breezes give the bunches a fresh and well-defined character. The vineyards, with an average age of eleven years, are espalier-trained to maximise aromatic concentration. The wine's name is a tribute to the geographical parallel that ideally links the Sardinian land to the city of Barcelona. This connection reflects a deep sharing of cultural roots and Mediterranean influences that define the authentic character of the territory.
How it is produced
The winemaking process involves soft pressing and cold static decantation. Fermentation takes place entirely in new French oak barrels, giving the wine a significant structure. Ageing continues for approximately eight months in steel tanks and second- and third-fill barrels, preserving the integrity of the primary aromas. The absence of malolactic fermentation maintains a vibrant acidic tension, making it perfect for a refreshing tasting at controlled temperatures.
