Description
What kind of spirit is this?
Grappa Alto Rilievo Invecchiata in Botti di Sherry by Segnana is a structured spirit distilled from grape marc in Trentino-South Tyrol, crafted for refined after-dinner sipping. Matured extensively in seasoned wood, this aged grappa presents a deep amber colour that heralds a complex sensory profile. The nose reveals distinct vinous aromas intertwined with clear notes of candied fruit. On the palate, the 40% alcohol by volume supports a velvety mouthfeel, delivering a clean and persistent aromatic finish that beautifully rounds off a meal.
Geographical origin
Hailing from Trentino-South Tyrol, Italy, this spirit reflects deep-rooted local expertise in distilling grape marc. Segnana carefully selects regional raw materials to shape a defined profile that captures the essence of its alpine territory. The authentic character of the grape base is further enhanced by an Iberian influence gained through the specific casks chosen for maturation. This geographical synergy results in a complex sensory expression, marrying the fresh vinous heritage of the mountains with warmer, aromatic undertones.
Production process
The production process begins with the careful distillation of selected grape marc, laying the foundation for the spirit’s clear aromatic structure. This is followed by a prolonged maturation phase in Sherry casks, which is the defining technical stage for this expression. Extended contact with the seasoned wood naturally extracts the deep amber hue and concentrates the distinct scents of candied fruit. This targeted interaction develops a velvety and rounded mouthfeel, ensuring the grappa remains perfectly smooth and enveloping on the palate.
History and Heritage
Crafted by Segnana, part of the Lunelli Group, this spirit beautifully unites the heritage of Trentino–South Tyrol with elegant Iberian influences.

Segnana grappa is in fact partly made from the grape marc left over from the soft pressing of the grapes used to produce Ferrari. The short time interval from grape pressing to insertion in the stills makes sure that the grape marc doesn’t lose any of the original aromas, flavour and fragrances.
The traditional Bain-Marie batch distillation procedure is enriched by the application of innovative technical expedients gleaned from years of research carried out by Segnana’s master distillers in collaboration with the Edmund Mach foundation in San Michele all’Adige.
The grape marc conservation procedure in embedded tanks with hydraulic gaskets is unique and extraordinarily efficient while the patented secondary phlegm distillation system used in particular vintages allows the purest part of the grape marc to be sublimated. Once distilled the grappa is allowed to rest and age for several months in steel tanks where it is embellisgrappahed with elegance, smoothness and harmony. Read more
