Description
What kind of wine it is
Santa Cristina Toscana Rosso, produced by Antinori, expresses the identity of its territory through a harmonious blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. In the glass, it displays a red colour enriched with violet reflections, which anticipates a fruity bouquet where cherry, blackberry and plum stand out. The aromatic profile is completed by elegant notes of vanilla and coffee, combined with subtle hints of Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is enveloping, supported by a solid structure and fine-grained sweet tannins that accompany the sip towards a persistent finish with a pleasant liquorice aftertaste. It is ideal for pairing with roast meats, traditional cured meats and mature pecorino cheese.
Where it comes from
The origin of this label is located in the territory of San Casciano Val di Pesa, in the heart of Tuscany's wine-growing landscape. The history of this wine dates back to 1946, becoming established over time thanks to the constant care dedicated to the Tuscan vineyards. The pedoclimatic context, characterised by mild seasons, favours optimal development of the vegetative cycle, allowing grapes with a solid polyphenolic component to be obtained. This microclimate guarantees intense colours and typical aromas, reflecting a careful approach to the environment and the winery's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint during agricultural phases.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with the separate processing of the different varieties. After destemming and gentle pressing, the must macerates for about a week in stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the primary aromas. Once malolactic fermentation is completed during the winter period, the wine begins its maturation in steel, while a small portion rests in barrels. This careful production management allows the clarity of the fruit to remain intact, enriching the sip with delicate spicy and toasted nuances.
