Description

Still organic rosé, produced by Fattoria San Giusto in Rentennano, Tuscany. Blend: 93% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo Nero, 2% Merlot. 0.75L bottle, 2024 vintage. A rosé born from a passion for the terroir and a desire to express the freshness of Sangiovese. This wine is made from must extracted from the Chianti Classico, Riserva, Percarlo, and La Ricolma vats, usually drawn 12–24 hours after the grapes are added to the vats, and to a lesser extent from early-harvested Sangiovese, Merlot, and Canaiolo grapes. The must is fermented for 10–12 days with the addition of approximately 10% fresh, destemmed grapes. During fermentation, the temperature is maintained at 23°C (73°F), and the must is stirred daily. Fresh, fruity aromas. A wine with an intense, rich body and a pure texture.

San Giusto a Rentennano (name of Etruscan origin), is set high on the river Arbia in the southernmost part of Chianti Classico. Ancient Cistercian monastery (hence formerly called San Giusto alle Monache), then indomitable fortress, was marked on the border, according to a treaty of 1204, between the counties of Siena and Florence. Guelph battlements of the castle remain of the wall, the massive walls and Barbican underground cellars, still used for aging wine in barrels. Property of the Martini family of Cigala since 1914, today the brothers Anna, Lucia, Elisabetta, Francesca, Alessandro, Luca. Read more
