Description
Still red Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, 15% ABV, produced by Ruffino. Blend: 98% Sangiovese and 2% Colorino. 0.75L bottle, 2019 vintage. A robust Sangiovese made on the Tenuta Santedame estate in Castellina in Chianti, where the grapes are meticulously selected. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration, lasting over 20 days, take place in temperature-controlled steel vats. Aged for 30 months, 24 of which in large Slavonian barrels for the Sangiovese and barriques for the Colorino. The aroma is intense, with peppery notes followed by coffee, licorice, and cocoa. The fruitiness is later perceived with notes of morello cherries in alcohol, blackberries, and finally bitter herbs and toasted notes. On the palate it is a muscular Sangiovese, warm and full-bodied, with a well-present tannin and a persistent and savoury finish.
