Description

An organic red from the heart of Tuscany, a Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, 13.5% ABV, produced by Ruffino. Blend: 70% Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Red Grapes. 0.75 L bottle, 2022 vintage. The term "Lodola" derives from the Italian word for "allark," a migratory bird that has been visiting Montepulciano, this wine's birthplace, for centuries. The grapes come exclusively from the most suitable areas of the Montepulciano region. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration, aided by periodic pumping over and délestage, take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for approximately 21 days. The wine then ages for approximately 18 months in oak barrels. Before bottling, it rests briefly in stainless steel vats. The bouquet is complex, with floral notes of violet and fruity aromas of cherry, berries, and plum. Spicy notes of tobacco and cloves are evident, with an intense eucalyptus finish. A deep ruby red color. All the fruity notes perceived on the nose are present on the palate. Elegant, velvety tannins combined with a good structure make this wine enveloping and harmonious, with excellent persistence.

The Ruffino Group is a composite business in a strong growth phase. The company now employs 300 people whose work contributes to the business’s continual development.

The company produces and sells more than thirty million bottles across forty labels, most of which come from Tuscany’s historic denominations such as Chianti, Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino, in addition to the production of Prosecco and Pinot Grigio in Veneto.

Ruffino grows grapes in over 600 hectares of vineyards across eight estates: six in Tuscany – Poggio Casciano, Montemasso, Santedame, Gretole, La Solatia and Greppone Mazzi – two in Veneto: Cà del Duca and La Duchessa.

Ruffino was established in Pontassieve in 1877, near Florence. The main headquarters is still located on the same premises, which have been extended, modernized and equipped with innovative technology over the years, without ever losing sight of the company’s history and attachment to the local area.

The value produced by the Ruffino Group in 2019 exceeded 130 million euro.

The export revenue is significant: Ruffino is distributed worldwide due to a structured and well-developed commercial network.

Since 2011, the company has been part of Constellation Brands, an American market leader in the beer, wine & spirits sector.
