Description
What kind of wine it is
The Alsace Kappelweg de Rorschwihr Riesling produced by Rolly Gassmann is a still white wine that offers a semi-aromatic expression of great precision. Made from Riesling grapes in the Alsace region, it stands out for its rich bouquet of fruity aromas, mineral notes and hints of bread crust. On the palate, it is savoury and harmonious, characterised by a strict balance of flavours that ensures extraordinary longevity. Its high quality is confirmed by prestigious scores from critics such as Robert Parker and Vinous.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the commune of Rorschwihr, an area of France renowned for its excellent winemaking tradition. The Kappelweg de Rorschwihr vineyard is set on soil composed of clay, sand, limestone and granite: a complex geological matrix that gives the wine a distinctive character. These layers enhance the pronounced mineral imprint of the wine, imparting a persistent savoury sensation. Rolly Gassmann, a historic family-run estate, carefully manages its own hectares, translating the authentic identity of the Alsatian terroir into an outstanding production.
How it is produced
The production process is based on a meticulous late harvest, with grapes picked at advanced ripeness to enhance their natural aromatic concentration. Fermentation is managed to preserve the purity of the fruit and expressive clarity. The subsequent ageing consolidates the body of the wine, ensuring a satisfying and profound sip. Best enjoyed at a serving temperature of 10-12 °C, this white pairs harmoniously with lean fish dishes, spicy cuisine, blue cheeses and desserts.
