Description
What kind of wine it is
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a Bordeaux-style blend that combines the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the soft accents of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. It displays an intense ruby colour, while the nose reveals deep aromas of dark fruit, leather, cocoa and spices. On the palate, it offers a full body with a velvety sensation thanks to ripe, fleshy tannins, and a long, persistent finish characterised by subtle toasted nuances.
Where it comes from
This red wine originates from the prestigious lands of Napa Valley in California, an internationally renowned winegrowing region. Produced by Robert Mondavi, it faithfully reflects the identity of its terroir. The grapes are carefully selected, including fruit from the famous and historic To Kalon vineyard, renowned for its suitability for great red wines. This expression of the land results in a solid structural framework and a remarkable ageing potential, allowing the wine to evolve with great elegance over time.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with meticulous hand harvesting of the bunches. After destemming, the grapes undergo a cold maceration to encourage aromatic extraction. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and wooden vats, with about twenty-four days spent on the skins. After completing malolactic fermentation in wood, the wine matures for seventeen months in French oak barrels, a process that harmoniously integrates the fruity notes and spicy components.
