Description
What kind of wine it is
Riondo Merlot is a still red wine that faithfully reflects its grape variety. It releases intense aromas of red and black fruits, such as blueberry and ripe plum, enriched by notes of jam, chocolate, and spicy hints of clove and vanilla. On the palate, it is fresh, medium-bodied, and boasts excellent concentration. The soft tannins blend with a pleasant acidity, delivering a rounded and elegant finish. This red is ideal for pairing with roasts, grilled meats, rich sauces, and mature cheeses. It expresses its qualities best if decanted for an hour and served between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the province of Verona, along the hillside slopes of Monteforte d’Alpone. The Merlot grapes are grown using organic and sustainable farming methods, in vineyards designed to enhance the sun-ripened fruit. The strong connection with the Veneto designation highlights the local soil and climate vocation. Riondo’s philosophy aims to capture the authentic expression of its homeland, offering a sip that balances energy and smoothness. This careful agronomic work gives the wine remarkable ageing potential, ensuring a harmonious evolution that can last from five to ten years.
How it is produced
Production begins with a late harvest of partially dried grapes, a process that takes place partly on the vine and partly in controlled environments. In the winery, vinification in stainless steel uses technology that employs carbon dioxide to continuously mix the must and skins, extracting colour and structure without compromising the natural freshness of the aromas. The final stage involves twelve months of ageing, divided between steel tanks and large wooden barrels. This resting period is essential to smooth the wine’s texture and enhance its refined final harmony.
