Description

What kind of spirit is this

Grappa Bassano 24 Carati Oro is a deeply aromatic barrel-aged Grappa crafted by Poli. Sourced from the celebrated Breganze area, this spirit presents a striking, deep golden-yellow colour. The sensory profile reveals broad notes of toasted wood, liquorice, coffee, and tea, offering a complex and well-structured character. On the palate, it is remarkably full-bodied, rounded, and velvety, culminating in a highly persistent finish characterised by clear hints of vanilla and cocoa. Served in a tulip-shaped glass, it is an elegant after-dinner digestif.

Geographical origin

Originating from Veneto in north-eastern Italy, this spirit serves as a tribute to Bassano del Grappa and the historic bridge designed by Andrea Palladio. Poli carefully selects local fresh pomace from a blend of regional grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, to capture the viticultural identity of the Breganze territory. This rigorous selection ensures a spirit that faithfully reflects its regional origin, offering an authentic expression of the landscape and its deeply rooted agricultural heritage.

Production process

The production process relies on an artisanal distillation method executed in small batches using a discontinuous cycle. Fresh pomace is loaded into steam-heated copper pot stills, which are manually emptied and recharged to ensure rigorous control over every run. Following extraction, the spirit rests for twenty-four months in small French oak barrels, traditionally known as carati. These barrels are kept in subterranean cellars where temperature and humidity remain optimal. This extended wood ageing integrates spicy nuances and establishes the deep colour of the Grappa.

History and Heritage

Created as an elegant tribute to Bassano del Grappa, this distinguished spirit reflects the heritage of the renowned Distillerie Poli, which dates back to 1898. It is crafted using one of the oldest functioning steam-heated copper pot stills in Italy, and honours the historic bridge designed by Andrea Palladio. Beautifully enriched with genuine 24-carat gold flakes and presented in a gift case, this award-winning grappa delivers a truly luxurious tasting experience.
