Description
What kind of wine it is
Poggio Landi Brunello di Montalcino is an organic red wine that enhances the character of Sangiovese. Characterised by a ruby red colour, it offers aromas of ripe red fruit intertwined with notes of black pepper and liquorice. On the palate, it is smooth and full-bodied, supported by velvety, enveloping tannins with subtle hints of vanilla. It pairs elegantly with game and mature cheeses. It is recommended to let it breathe for about an hour before serving to fully appreciate its balance.
Where it comes from
It originates from the Tuscan hills of Montalcino, from vineyards tended by Poggio Landi. The vines grow between one hundred and seventy-five and five hundred metres above sea level, benefiting from excellent south and south-west exposure to the sun. The predominantly clay soil encourages excellent ripening and gives the wine a significant structure. The estate adopts a biological and sustainable approach, preserving the local ecosystem and ensuring an authentic aromatic quality.
How it is produced
The process begins with a natural and spontaneous fermentation, carried out by indigenous yeasts for about two weeks. Once this phase is complete, the wine rests in large French oak barrels for thirty-eight months, acquiring elegance and complexity. A further final maturation of six months harmonises its flavour profile. This careful process results in a smooth structure and a very persistent finish.
