Description

What kind of wine it is

Dedicato a Walter is a red wine by Poggio al Tesoro that embodies the character of Bolgheri Superiore. Made from Cabernet Franc grapes, it appears in the glass with a deep, intense ruby red hue. On the nose, it reveals an aromatic weave of cassis, Damask rose and blackberry jam, enriched by hints of eucalyptus, snuff tobacco and jujube. The olfactory profile is completed by fresh notes of Mediterranean scrub and distinct vegetal nuances. On the palate, it expresses an enveloping structure, capable of maintaining remarkable gustatory tension, resulting in a powerful yet agile wine, guided by elegant tannins towards a long-lasting finish.

Where it comes from

This wine originates along the Via Bolgherese, in the Soprastrada subzone of the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, in Tuscany. The vines grow at an altitude of about fifty-six metres, immersed in a warm and constantly ventilated microclimate, tempered by sea breezes and characterised by a particular brightness. The roots delve into deep, well-drained soils, dominated by coarse red sands and rich in stones, with a clay layer just over a metre deep. This specific soil composition encourages a clear aromatic expression and a pronounced acidity retention, giving the wine a defined territorial character.

How it is produced

The production process begins with destemming and gentle pressing. The temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel and truncated conical oak vats, followed by natural malolactic fermentation in barrels. The cycle concludes with 18-24 months of ageing in new French oak barrels, a crucial step to stabilise the structural architecture and shape the tannin texture. The final result maintains a measured balance between intensity, gustatory tension and persistence in the glass.
