Description
What kind of wine it is
Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino expresses the authentic character of Sangiovese. It presents an intense ruby red colour and a complex aromatic profile, enriched with notes of ripe red fruit, violet, dried flowers, cocoa and spices. On the palate, it reveals a pleasant freshness and an elegant structural richness. The soft and succulent tannins accompany a harmonious sip, ideal for enhancing dishes based on game and pork or for pairing satisfyingly with mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Tuscan wine originates in the Montalcino area, in the evocative Orcia river valley. The estate, managed by Antinori, owes its name to a historic nineteenth-century railway station located within the property. The vineyards benefit from excellent south-west exposure at around one hundred and thirty metres above sea level. These particular climatic and territorial conditions ensure optimal ripening of the grapes, defining that expressive consistency which enhances the pure identity of the grape variety.
How it is produced
Production begins with destemming and a gentle pressing of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with maceration lasting about fifteen days at a controlled temperature. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine is transferred to large oak barrels. This step preserves the aromatic integrity of the fruit during more than two years of maturation in wood, followed by a long final ageing that gives the sip great balance and vibrant elegance.
