Description
Brut Champagne, produced by Philipponnat in the Champagne region. Blend: 66% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay, 2% Pinot Meunier. 0.75L bottle. A tribute to the history of the House, founded in 1522, and to the tradition of Champagne. First pressing of grapes sourced from the heart of the Champagne region, primarily from the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of Pinot Noir around Mareuil-sur-Ay. Traditional vinification in wooden vats and barrels, avoiding any premature oxidation. Of the 2020 wines, 23% were produced without malolactic fermentation. Aged in barrels to give them sublime depth and patina, our reserve wines are a treasure that the House remixes and renews each year, incorporating them into the new harvest to enhance its complexity while preserving its minerality. The initial nose reveals notes of vine blossoms, lime blossoms, and lightly toasted fresh bread. Upon aeration, it releases aromas of red fruits, citrus, and honey. A deep gold color with amber highlights. On the palate, it is beautifully strong, fruity (red currant, raspberry, ripe grape), and full-bodied, both broad and long. The finish offers hints of biscuits and freshly baked bread.

In 1696, Apvril’s descendants, who were often ‘Royal Mayors’ of Ay, registered the family coat of arms in the Armorial de France. Today, this same coat of arms adorns all the House’s bottles. ?The labels of Philipponnat, vineyard owners and wine merchants, were among the first to bear the signature of sparkling Champagnes as early as the mid-19th century.
