Description

What kind of spirit is this?

Peyrot Liquer Amande & Cognac de Grand Champagne from Francois Peyrot in south-west France balances the depth of Grande Champagne Cognac with the distinct profile of macerated almonds. Boasting a subtle amber colour, this spirit offers a dry, intense bouquet where green almond seamlessly integrates with the pronounced character of the Cognac oak. The palate reveals a bold, fresh attack highlighting pure almond notes, leading towards a controlled, delicately bitter finish. With a 24% alcohol volume, it delivers a precise and highly defined tasting experience.

Where does it come from?

Crafted in Jarnac in south-west France, this spirit relies on the renowned terroir of the Cognac region. The liqueur’s foundation is sourced exclusively from the Grande Champagne area, imparting a clear geographical signature. Local distilling expertise ensures a profile where the distillate’s structural weight and oak influence remain prominent alongside the infused ingredients. Following an artisanal recipe established in 1956, Francois Peyrot maintains a consistent production method that highlights authentic regional qualities.

How is it produced?

The base spirit is crafted using traditional Charentais double distillation in copper pot stills to ensure optimal extraction. The defining flavour is achieved by macerating almonds and then integrating them with the distilled base. To harmonise the blend, the liqueur matures in white oak barrels for at least one year. This maturation stabilises the amber hue and introduces a clear wood-derived signature, perfectly balancing the fresh character of the almond with the robust framework of the Cognac.

From this winery
  • Start up year: 1956
Every day, since 1956, the Cognacs of the Maison François Peyrot have been made with the utmost dedication, the fruit of a 'savoir-faire' handed down from father to son over decades. They are the result of passion, hard work and perseverance. The 25 hectares of vines, where the grapes from which the Cognacs are harvested, are located in the town of Jarnac, in the 'Grande Champagne 1er Cru de Cognac', and are cultivated with respect for the environment, favouring quality over quantity. From the vineyard to the cellar, the step is short. Immersed in the half-light and humidity, the essence of wood impregnated with evaporated alcohol almost seems to be the 'perfume of angels': this is how the mystery is fulfilled, with the birth of unique and inimitable Cognacs, whose fragrances are mastered by the infallible skill of the 'maitre de chai', the cellar master.
