Description
Wine Profile
Nino Franco's Primo Franco is a Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore sparkling wine from Veneto, produced from Glera grapes vinified in stainless steel using the Martinotti method. In the glass, it presents as a brilliant straw yellow with a fine and delicate perlage, releasing aromas of ripe apple, exotic fruit, white flowers and candied citrus fruits. On the palate, it has a slightly off-dry and fruity character, balanced by a pleasant freshness and minerality that lead towards a clean finish. Its versatility makes it ideal for pairing with savoury and spicy starters, cured meats, grilled fish and fruit-based desserts.
Origin
This wine originates from the Treviso hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, at an altitude of approximately three hundred and sixty metres. The steep north-facing slopes ensure a cool climate, which is essential for preserving a distinct acidity and a very well-defined aromatic expression. The limestone-rich and moderately deep soils give the wine a mineral, taut and linear character. The complex topography of this area requires careful manual vineyard management, a meticulous task necessary to fully enhance the characteristics and identity of the region.
Production Method
After the manual harvest, the must is cooled to protect the integrity of the aromas. The first fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the secondary fermentation in autoclaves takes place according to the Martinotti method, an ideal choice for defining the delicate effervescent texture and preserving the varietal notes. Ageing continues in steel and ends with cellar resting for approximately thirty days, an essential period to fully stabilise and harmonise the wine's flavour profile before its release.

On the steep limestone hills of Treviso, careful heroic viticulture preserves the delicate balance of every vine. This profound artisanal dedication gives life to memorable sparkling wines, awarded ratings of excellence by international critics.

But it was the "quiet revolution" of Primo Franco, Antonio’s grandson, that brought the wind of change, opening the doors of the best restaurants in the world to his Valdobbiadene Prosecco wines. Primo bravely crossed the Piave, leaving behind an agricultural world that exclusively evolved around itself.
Primo’s new wave of Prosecco – authorial, intimate and identifying – is the embodiment of his experiences: travels, encounters, meetings with chefs and gastronomes of the Nouvelle Cuisine, studies in enology and passion for architecture, as well as conversations and drinks with friends.
Today, after making history for a century, Nino Franco is the icon of Valdobbiadene Prosecco. While observing the utmost respect for his homeland, he undid – using quality and imagination – all the prejudices against an easy and standardized wine, one considered as an endowment of a rustic and pragmatic culture.
