Description
What kind of wine it is
Montevetrano is a prestigious red wine from Campania, the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Aglianico, an authentic expression of the Colli di Salerno area. On the nose, it reveals an enveloping bouquet with hints of red fruits and wild berries, enhanced by nuances of blackberry, black cherry, violet and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is intense and fresh, supported by velvety tannins and a distinctive mineral note of charcoal that evolves into a long and persistent finish. Excellent with meat and game dishes, it unleashes its full potential when served between 16 and 18°C.
Where it comes from
Production takes place in the municipality of San Cipriano Picentino, a short distance from Salerno. The vineyards benefit from the influence of the sea and a mild climate, naturally protected by the crown of the Picentini Mountains. These environmental conditions, together with medium-textured soils rich in stones, ensure optimal ripening of the grapes and give the wine a complex structure. The agronomic management uses spurred cordon and Guyot training systems, which guarantee low yields and a high concentration of aromas.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with meticulous manual harvesting, followed by gentle pressing and destemming. The must remains in maceration on the skins for twenty days with regular punching down, then ferments in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in new French oak barrels from the prestigious forests of Nevers, Allier and Tronçais. This is followed by about six months of bottle ageing, essential to stabilise the integrity of the flavour profile before release.
