Description

What kind of wine it is

Menhir Malvasia Fiano Salento Sale is a still white wine born from the harmonious blend of Fiano and Malvasia Bianca grapes. Distinguished by a straw yellow colour with golden highlights, it offers a fragrant bouquet dominated by notes of exotic fruit, melon, peach and white flowers. On the palate, it is savoury and well-balanced, with a long finish featuring clear almondy hints, making it perfect to accompany fish dishes or vegetarian recipes.

Where it comes from

This wine from Salento originates in the Itria Valley, a renowned wine-growing area of Apulia. The vines, trained on trellises, sink their roots into calcareous-clay soils, which are essential for giving the glass its typical savoury character. The Menhir Salento winery, located in the Terra d’Otranto, manages the vineyards by enhancing the rural identity and the unique pedoclimatic features of the area, offering an authentic and faithful expression of its territory of origin.

How it is produced

Production involves a rigorous manual harvest, carried out between August and September. The process begins with a pre-fermentation maceration at 10°C for six hours, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. The production cycle concludes with a rest on fine lees lasting at least three months. This method enriches the structure on the palate and ensures optimal aromatic stability, allowing the wine to evolve positively over time.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 2002 in the Terra d’Otranto, Menhir Salento celebrates the authentic Apulian identity through wines of remarkable elegance. Roots and contamination: with these words we would like to tell you the story of Menhir, a winery and farm based between Bagnolo del Salento and Palmariggi, in that corner between land and sea that embraces Maglie and Otranto, in the heart of Terra d'Otranto in Apulia.

The Marangelli family and company founder Gaetano are daily committed to enhancing the magnificent territory, working to tell the world about the taste, history, and identity of this land.

Terra d'Otranto is both a Denomination of Controlled Origin and the toponym of a land of stones that become myths, stones that have shaped its history and identity and that today are the fulcrum of a project to be handed down to future generations. Our project.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that our:
