Description

What kind of wine it is

Unique by Medici Ermete is a rosé sparkling wine Brut made from Lambrusco Marani grapes. Produced in the Lambrusco Reggiano area, it is crafted following the strict principles of the Traditional Method. In the glass, it reveals a vibrant pink colour accompanied by a fine and creamy mousse. On the nose, it is elegant, with aromas ranging from red fruits to citrus, with hints of brioche and vanilla. On the palate, it is dry, fresh and lively, revealing a harmonious balance that fully enhances the identity of the grape variety.

Where it comes from

Production takes place at the La Rampata Estate, located in the Reggio Emilia area. In this terroir, the vines trained with the spur-pruned cordon method sink their roots into clay-based soils, a key factor in giving the wine a pronounced flavour profile and a taut texture. The agronomic management aims to ensure a high aromatic concentration, reflecting the strong vocation of the Lambrusco Reggiano area, interpreted here in this refined rosé version.

How it is produced

After a delicate rosé vinification of the Lambrusco Marani grapes, the second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Traditional Method. This is followed by a prolonged ageing on the lees for twenty-six months, a crucial oenological phase to enrich the aromatic complexity and provide a pleasant creaminess. The Brut dosage outlines a dry sip, capable of supporting a vibrant structure and ensuring a very clean finish.

The year is 1890, on the Via Emilia, the most important commercial road of the town. Remigio Medici owned three successful taverns and decided to found a winery with the aim of making the most of the family vineyards, located between the Via Emilia and the foothills of the Enza valley. Remigio’s son Ermete expanded the business and consolidated the company’s reputation, before handing over the reins to his sons Valter and Giorgio, who began to export, further expanding the brand. The long history of Medici Ermete had officially begun…

Today the company owns about 80 hectares of vineyards (grown entirely organically), distributed among the areas with the highest wine-making vocation in the Emilia-Romagna region, and exports to over 70 countries in the world. Now in their fifth generation, represented by Alessandro, the Medici family can boast solid experience in the vineyard as well as the cellar.

They won their wager: the maximum enhancement of their wines. The winning idea was to create a close link between the territory and the wines produced, the rigorous selection of grapes, at the cost of a yield per hectare even 30-40% lower than the DOC regulations, but the guaranteeing wines of unprecedented quality.
