It is 1890, on the Via Emilia, the most essential commercial road in the Emilia-Romagna region. Remigio Medici is the owner of 3 successful taverns and decides to found a winery to enhance the family vineyards, located between the via Emilia and the first hills of the Enza valley. His son Ermete enlarged the company and consolidated its fame. His sons Valter and Giorgio later began exporting, further spreading the brand. The long history of Medici Ermete officially began.

In the 1970s, in the United States, the company witnessed the 'Lambrusco boom', and it is essential to emphasise that it was, together with Chianti, among the first Italian wines to be exported. However, in 1988, sales for the entire Emilian sector collapsed due to an increased production proposal in quantity rather than quality. In fact, sweet Lambrusco originated, an industrial product sold at meager prices, which in a few years destroyed the excellent name of Lambrusco.

In that same year, the fourth generation of the Medici family, consisting of Alberto and Pierluigi Medici, joined the company. A little later, they were joined by Alessandra, today responsible for the hospitality area. These are fundamental years in Medici Ermete: the family decides to overturn the Lambrusco production method! The vineyards were replanted, and the yields in the vineyard were lowered by 35% compared to the specifications using the spurred cordon pruning system. From this pioneering philosophy, 'Concerto,' a CRU of Lambrusco Salamino, was born in 1993.

Today the company owns about 80 hectares of plots cultivated entirely organically, distributed among the areas with the highest wine-growing vocation in the Emilia-Romagna region and exports to 70 countries worldwide. Now in its fifth generation, represented by Alessandro, the Medici family boasts solid experience in the vineyard and cellar.
