Description
What kind of wine it is
Mastroberardino Greco di Tufo is a still white wine from Campania that embodies the essence of Greco grapes cultivated in the renowned Irpinia area. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, a technical choice that preserves the purity of the varietal aromas. On the palate, the wine reveals a defined and elegant structure, where the savoury and saline components blend harmoniously with the freshness of the fruit. The finish is long and persistent, enriched by a pleasant note of citron. Its remarkable ageing potential allows it to evolve beautifully, gaining complexity over the years.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in the vineyards of Tufo and Petruro, in the province of Avellino, on hills situated at around 450 metres above sea level with optimal south-east exposure. In this area, the composition of the clay-limestone soils is crucial in giving the wine a pronounced minerality and a distinctive character. The Greco grape variety boasts millennia-old roots: brought from Thessaly in pre-Christian times, it was appreciated by the Romans under the name ‘Aminea Gemina’, due to the characteristic shape of the bunch divided into two twin parts.
How it is produced
Production begins around mid-October with the manual harvest, adhering to high quality standards. Fermentation lasts for about twenty days in steel tanks under constant temperature control, in order to enhance the aromatic precision of the grapes. After a few months of ageing, the wine expresses intense aromas of citrus, peach, pineapple and apricot, with elegant hints of bitter almond and sage. The palate stands out for its freshness and a firm mineral imprint, offering a deep and structured tasting experience.
